Our commitment to excellence is seen in the results, as we consistently produce high-quality products that meet the strictest of industry standards and exceed our clients’ expectations. We are proud of our 10,000+ FDA-validated projects that provide lifesaving medicines, therapies, and treatments around the globe.

Our History

Founded in 1934 by William T. Donovan to address the burgeoning needs of the coal industry during World War II, WT Donovan laid the groundwork for a legacy that continues to thrive. The 1950s ushered in a new era as Bud Greenwald, the visionary owner of HART Engineering, acquired the company and rebranded it as Donovan Engineering Construction Co., Inc. This strategic merger combined Donovan’s extensive coal handling expertise with HART’s renowned welding capabilities, setting the stage for future success.

As the years progressed, leadership transitioned to Bud’s son, Roy Greenwald, and Brian Walsh during the transformative 1980s. This period marked a pivotal moment in our history as we adopted the name DECCO and established a state-of-the-art fabrication shop in Brookline, NH, alongside a federally approved apprentice program that nurtured the next generation of skilled professionals.

Our commitment to excellence was soon recognized when DECCO won its first Excellence in Construction award, solidifying our reputation as one of the largest open shop mechanical contractors in New England. Fast forward to 2023, a significant milestone was reached as DECCO was proudly acquired by Comfort Systems USA. This partnership is poised to accelerate our growth and expand our reach across our diverse operating groups: Construction, DECCOServ, DECCOFab, and Critical Equipment Handling.
