Kevin Shield Named President of DECCO
Kevin ShieldDECCO, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Shield to the position of President of the company. Shield has replaced Roy F. Greenwald, who has served in that capacity for 28 years.

For more than 75 years, the mechanical contractor has served New England companies in the pharmaceutical, power, high tech, and food and beverage industries. In Shield's 17-year tenure at the company, he has overseen almost every aspect of the operations, from work acquisition through fabrication and work processes, while maintaining a project management role.

He noted, "We remain committed to being at the forefront of our industry's trends, focusing on quality, safety and leading-edge project management tools in order to ensure the success of our clients. And we are particularly proud of being able to do this in a work environment where each of our employees can personally grow and advance his or her career."

Greenwald said, "I'm excited for both DECCO and Kevin as he moves into the key leadership role for the organization. He's proven himself time and again to be the right person both to plot the path forward for DECCO and to take the company where it needs to go."

Shield's enthusiasm for maintaining DECCO's commitment to leading edge technology and capabilities is evidenced by the company's recently completed integration of BIM project execution and a large expansion of their fabrication facility. Under his leadership, DECCO has also expanded its client-focused embedded services group to a more varied and broader client base.

Ed Kozloski Rejoins DECCO
Ed KozloskiDECCO is pleased to announce that Ed Kozloski has rejoined DECCO. Ed has been hired as a senior project manager and will be working on both large construction projects as well as supporting some of our ongoing sites. For those of you who have not meet Ed, he previously managed projects for both DECCO and DPS in the shop fabrication division. Ed has extensive experience in both the Biotech and shop fabrication industries and is very familiar with DECCO's policies and procedures.

When you see Ed in the office or on site, please make him feel at home.

DECCO Receives Excellence in Construction Award
ABCRecently, DECCO was awarded the 2011 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Massachusetts Chapter Excellence in Construction Award for the Central Heating Plant Upgrades at Keene State College in Keene, NH. This award is a testament to DECCO’s ability to provide innovative solutions in the most difficult conditions in order to deliver the highest levels of quality and safety. This marks DECCO’s 9th Excellence award in as many years and demonstrates our commitment to providing the mechanical solution to our client’s in order to assure project success. This project will now be entered into the National competition pitting DECCO against some of the nation’s other best open-shop mechanical contracting companies where we’ve won 7 National Excellence awards in the past. We would like to thank ABC for this award and for the validation that comes with our efforts to be the best at what we do.

Safety at DECCO
At DECCO, safety is a value not a priority. That's because a company's priorities can change, but the values remain constant over time. At DECCO, the safety performance of our partners is "Best in Class" as demonstrated by the following.

First and foremost is our OSHA recordable statistics that shows that DECCO has performed over 2.5 million work hours without a "lost time" incident. Yes, we have had some cuts, muscle strains and foreign objects in the eye which are all "recordable" incidents, but we have been successful working with our fellow partners so they could continue to be on the job at full wages.

Second is our achievement of winning the highest safety award offered by ABC National, the Platinum STEP (Safety Training and Evaluation Process) award, for over 10 years. This is significant because we are in competition with companies from across the country.

And finally where the rubber meets the road, DECCO's EMR (Experience Modifier Rate) is at an enviable .67 (1 being the industry average) which equates to significant savings in our workers compensation insurance premiums and allows us to be more competitive while bidding work.

All in all, safety starts at the top with management's commitment and continues throughout DECCO with everyone being responsible for his/her own safety. Congratulations on our collective achievements, but don't take a break from your continuous dedication to working safe.
